Roaming solutions that deliver real value are winning over telecommunications leaders  

Integrating new products that address changing market forces and meet evolving customer expectations is a top priority for telecommunications carriers, which is why one of Europe’s largest telecommunications operators has implemented Amplitiv’s Roaming Suite. This suite, which includes Steering of Roaming (SoR) and SMS Welcome services, will handle this leading telecommunications group’s production traffic by the end of 2023.  

These feature-rich solutions, which are among the most technologically advanced on the market, provide additional business value for a group of operators seeking to navigate dynamic changes in a demanding roaming market and overcome pressing challenges, like 2G/3G sunsets and vast Internet of Things (IoT) expansion. 

This project delivers a comprehensive list of steering functionalities, including hybrid steering (signaling & OTA passive steering that work together and utilize cutting-edge technology like traveling paths prediction), rapid resteering (instantaneous redirection of traffic away from a current preferred roaming partner to other selected roaming partners), a dedicated VoLTE steering module, device-based steering rules based on RAT, data barring, IR.21 DB synchronization automation and anti-steering detection and prevention. 

The latest version of Amplitiv’s SMS Welcome (SMSW) solution has been adjusted to the EU’s most recent roaming regulations and fully supports VoLTE, 5G NSA, SA and legacy networks. Apart from the extensive segmentation options that enable the differentiation of the service for roaming customers and those returning home, it offers a new and improved tracing tool, which can provide years of detailed history in a matter of seconds. 

Amplitiv’s Steering of Roaming and SMSW systems are centrally deployed and managed as a multi-tenant solution for the group. Native multitenancy support of Amplitiv’s SoR and SMSW systems enable them to simultaneously serve multiple operators from the group with a high degree of configuration independence for each operator. Furthermore, all components are deployed in a virtualized environment and with full geo-redundancy. The project assumes migration from two separate, currently existing systems to one.
